Easy Ways to Live a Healthier and More Natural Life.

  • Lenexa Rec Center - Prarie Star Conference Room (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Are you constantly hearing from news sources and friends about how important it is to eat and live more naturally, but don’t know exactly what that means? Do you get overwhelmed by the bombardment of ideas of things that you “should” be doing for yourself and this planet? Do you search for something naturally minded on the internet, just to see multiple sites all with contradictory information? Which version do you trust? Who do you turn to when you have questions?

Stephanie Poetter started her journey to live a healthier and more natural lifestyle over 20 years ago, but predominantly a decade ago, using baby steps and educating herself along the way. After several thousand hours of education on “all things natural”, Stephanie can help you weed through all of the information out there, and teach you easy ways to live a much more natural lifestyle! Whether it’s the foods that you eat and the drinks that you drink, the personal care products that you use, your household cleaners, looking at sustainability in every aspect of your life, pregnancy and raising children, there are so many small things that you can do to live a much healthier and happier life. We can all do easy things to help prevent cancer and other illnesses, that our society is plagued with more and more, due to “modernization” and a “quick and easy” lifestyle.

In this class, you will learn many different ways to adjust your daily living, and how to do it using baby steps, so that it’s actually feasible. If you change one or two habits at a time, you can change your whole lifestyle over a manner of 1-2 years, almost without even noticing it! Where you will notice it is how good you feel. Your body will feel better, your mental state will improve, your relationships can improve, and pretty much every aspect of your life can be better. Join us this Thursday to learn how to start your natural journey! If you can’t make it Thursday, sign up for our mailing list here on the website (at the bottom of any page), and we will send emails out 1-3 times a month on our new blog and tutorials, that will teach you the same information.

Utilizing Your Local Farmers Market, City of Lenexa

This time of year, most people in Kansas City, and the outlying areas, can drive only 10-15 minutes to a seasonal local farmers market! If you haven’t been to one before, you’re truly missing out. Hundreds of vegetables, fruits, baked goods, sauces, jams/jellies, beverages, and so much more! Locally Good personally sells Artisanal Vinegars, herbal remedies including Elderberry Syrup, beverage enhancers, herbal tea blends, and 100% natural personal care products…and we’re just 1 of 37 vendors at our Lenexa market! Our market, like many others, does holiday/winter markets year round, but prime produce season is mostly May-October. Stephanie Poetter of Locally Good, will teach you things to keep an eye out for and questions to ask your FM vendors, to best get exactly what you are looking for. What exactly is “conventional”? What does “organic” really mean? What are “permaculture”, “Certified Naturally Grown” and “all natural using organic practices”? How are “natural”, “all natural” and “100% all natural” different, and what are the standards?

We’ve all seen the produce that is sold in most grocery stores, but what about those unique vegetables and varieties that you’ve never seen before? We will discuss more unique including heirloom varieties, and what makes those items so special. We will discuss the many ways in which different produce can be used, simple recipes to celebrate seasonal produce, and more! After the 1.5 hr class, there will be a 30 minute question and answer session.
